A reputable specialist psychiatric service is currently looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Social Worker to work full time at their hospital based in Baldock. The ideal candidate will possess a knowledge of social work practice in Adult-Mental Health in-patient services and be registered with the HCPC.
The service cares for people with mental illness, including older adults with physical health needs, learning disabilities and acquired brain injuries. It also has a female PICU service which caters for women in an intensive and acute phase of mental illness who may display an extreme state of agitation and challenging behaviour that would require an in-patient admission for stabilisation.
Essential Skills / Responsibilities
Education, Qualifications & Training
• Professional qualification in Social work – DipSW, CCS, CQSW Degree in Social Work or equivalent
• Professional registration with HCPC
• Willingness to train as an AMHP
• To complete AMHP functions when qualified.

• Good knowledge of the profession’s Standards of Conduct Performance and Ethics.
• Ability to understand and apply the profession’s ethical principles to workplace and caseload decisions.
• Ability to promote the principles of recovery self-determination and personalisation in practice.
Knowledge
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy guidance applying to adult social care and to mental health, including Mental Health Act 1983 (2007), Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, Carers legislation and Adult Safeguarding Policy.
• Good understanding of the principles and operation of an integrated mental health service.
• Good knowledge of models and types of mental disorder and treatment.
• Has the ability to take a lead role in managing all Safeguarding cases.
• Takes a lead role in the governance and managing of all Deprivation of Liberties applications.
