We are looking for a highly specialist SLT to join the team in supporting women affected by acquired brain injuries (ABI) or functional neurological disorders at a new service in Middlesborough.
This is a full time role, 40 hours a week but part time or job shares will be considered.
Candidate Profile
As a Highly Specialist SLT you will be working directly with a specialist caseload of women with complex presentations who could have co morbid mental health diagnoses, neurological or non-epileptic seizures and be detained under the Mental Health Act, informal or subject to DoLS. These individuals may have a forensic history including diagnosis of an established or suspected ABI, neurodegenerative condition, specialist dementia, Korsakoff’s or Functional Neurological Disorder manifesting with behavioural, sensory, memory, fatigue, concentration or motor deficits.

Criteria
· A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy, registration with HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists).
· Experience within a Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist role
· Experience in the field of neuropsychiatric conditions and acquired brain injuries (ABI) evidenced by high level of clinical SLT knowledge. Experience of working in inpatient/acute settings beneficial.
· Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning.
· Qualification in Dysphagia management.
· Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others
· Excellent communication / time management skills.
· Enthusiasm, motivation and passion.
